How IPOs work in Pakistan
- Book building: large investors bid for most of the shares and the final price (the “strike price”) is set.
- Public subscription: the remaining shares are offered to the general public at the strike price for a few days.
- Allotment and refunds: if more people apply than there are shares, shares are allotted and the extra money is refunded.
- Listing: the shares start trading on PSX.
How to apply
- Through your stockbroker, who can apply on your behalf.
- Online through the PSX e-IPO system (eipo.psx.com.pk) or CDC’s e-IPO system, with your CDC account details and bank account.
- Read the prospectus first: it explains the business, the risks and the use of the money raised.
