PSX Index Calculator

You can’t buy “the KSE-100” or “the KMI-30” as one share on PSX, but you can build your own copy of the index by buying its shares in the same proportions. Enter the amount you want to invest and this calculator shows how much goes into each share and how many shares to buy at the latest prices.

Smaller amounts work better with the top shares only. Weights are re-scaled so they still add up to 100%.
Check your broker's tariff. This money is not invested.

How to use your index portfolio

  1. Pick the index. KMI-30 if you want Shariah-compliant shares only, KSE-100 for the whole market.
  2. Enter your amount and choose how many shares to include. With smaller amounts, “Top 10” or “Top 20” is more practical.
  3. Place the orders in your broker’s app using the “Shares to buy” column. Prices move during the day, so the cost will differ slightly.
  4. Review every few months. Index weights change every day, and PSX reviews which companies are in each index twice a year, so run the calculator again when you add money.

Simpler option: index funds (ETFs)

PSX also lists exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that follow an index. Buying one ETF gives you a whole basket of shares in a single trade, with the fund doing the rebalancing for you. Check the ETF list on PSX and the fund’s fact sheet before choosing.

Know what to buy. Now learn when.

Copying an index tells you what to hold, not when to buy. Our Urdu PSX trading course teaches you to read the KSE-100 chart, spot trends, support and resistance, and manage risk, so you can choose better moments to invest.

For education only. This calculator does simple maths on index weights; it is not a recommendation to buy any share and not investment advice. Index weights and prices are taken from the PSX Data Portal and may be delayed or contain errors; always check the live price with your broker before placing an order. Past performance of an index does not guarantee future returns.
