PSX Scam Alerts & Investor Safety

Fraud around the share market is common, especially on WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook. Knowing the warning signs can save your savings.

The golden rules

  • Never send money to anyone’s personal bank account or wallet for trading. Pay only into your broker’s official company account.
  • Never share your broker, CDC or NCCPL passwords or OTP codes with anyone.
  • No one can guarantee profit in the share market. A promise of “fixed monthly profit” is a red flag.

Common scams

ScamHow it works
“Guaranteed profit” groupsGroups promise daily tips or fixed returns, take a fee or your money, then disappear or blame “the market”.

Pump and dumpA small, rarely traded share is hyped so people buy, while the promoters quietly sell at the top.
Fake brokers and appsLook-alike websites, apps or “agents” using a real broker’s name ask you to deposit money.
Fake IPO allocationOffers of “guaranteed IPO shares” for a fee. IPOs are applied for only through your broker, PSX e-IPO or CDC.
ImpersonationFake profiles of well-known analysts or channels message you directly asking for money.
