Open a PSX Account

To buy and sell shares on the Pakistan Stock Exchange you need an account with a licensed PSX broker (a “TREC holder”). This page explains how to open one, what to check, and lists some well-known brokers with their official contact details. Gharera Trading is not a broker, does not open accounts and does not earn anything from these brokers.

Before you open an account, learn how the market works. Opening an account takes minutes, but many beginners lose money in their first months because they buy on tips, rumours or emotion, without a plan or a stop loss. A little training first can save you a lot. Our Urdu PSX trading course shows you how the market works, how to read charts and how to manage risk, before you put real money in.

How to open a PSX account: step by step

  1. Choose a licensed brokerPick a broker from the list below or from PSX’s full official list. Always confirm the company’s name and licence number on the PSX website before sending any money.
  2. Pick your account typeMost beginners can start with a Sahulat account: simpler paperwork, for buying shares in the ready market, with purchases of up to Rs 3 million per broker. You can upgrade to a normal account later.
  3. Apply online, in the app or at the officeKeep these ready: your CNIC, a bank account (IBAN) in your own name, a mobile number registered in your name and an email address. Many brokers now let you apply fully online.
  4. Verify your identityThe broker verifies you through NADRA or a video or biometric check. Never share an OTP or your password with anyone, including people claiming to be agents.
  5. Receive your account detailsYou will get your trading login, your CDC account details and an NCCPL UIN number. Check the broker’s commission rates (tariff) at this stage.
  6. Deposit money and startSend money only from your own bank account to the broker’s official company bank account, as given in your signed agreement or inside the official app. Never pay into a personal account.

Already have an account? Having an account is only the start. To trade with confidence you need to know how to find a trend, where to enter and exit, how much to risk on each trade and how to avoid the common traps. That is exactly what our course teaches, step by step in Urdu, with real PSX chart examples. See what the course covers.

Overseas Pakistanis: if you have a Roshan Digital Account (RDA), you can invest in PSX shares through the Roshan Equity Investment route with participating brokers. Ask your RDA bank or broker which brokers they work with.

What to compare before choosing

  • Commission (brokerage): the fee per trade, and any minimum charge.
  • App and website: is it easy to place orders, see your portfolio and download statements?
  • Account opening: fully online, or do you need to visit an office?
  • Shariah-compliant option, if that matters to you.
  • Customer support and research: how quickly they answer, and whether they share market reports.
  • Your own preparation: no broker can make trading decisions for you. Learning analysis and risk management yourself matters more than which broker you pick.
